While looking for unique breast cancer awareness items etsy for a post in October, I came across a new shop (to etsy) with beautiful hand-drawn and hand-glittered cards. They didn’t have any sales yet, but with a friend’s birthday coming up, the cards were too great to pass up, so I ordered a custom card and became their first etsy sale :)

These ladies, however, are not new to designing paper goods or selling them. Here’s a little bit about them:

Our names are Melissa and Kellie and we are co-owners of Icing Designs. Kellie has been custom designing and hand glittering invitations for over seven years. It had always been a dream of hers to have someone hand-draw unique designs for her to use. Last winter, discussing invitation ideas for her daughter’s upcoming 2nd candy-shopped themed birthday party, Kellie asked me if I would sketch some candy designs for her. Kellie ended up using them to create the invitation. After hand-glittering them we couldn’t believe how adorable they looked!

After that I continued to draw for her daughter’s birthday invitations and my daughters’ birthday invitations and Kellie would hand-glitter them. We were really taken back by the amount of compliments that we received. This past summer I couldn’t find an invitation that really fit the “candy” theme of bridal shower I was having for a good friend of mine. So I decided to draw a bride holding a cupcake. It turned out really cute! I brought the invitations over to Kellie to have them hand-glittered and I was amazed how great they looked.

It was at that point we knew we might have something here. We knew that if we were going to start doing custom invitations and cards as a business they had to have a “sweet” flair. It was then and there that Icing Designs was born. We started creating brides and mommas holding lollipops and cupcakes. Within 6 months we created seven different lines of cards and multiple illustrations for custom invitations, cupcake flags and gift tags. We are now being sold in two boutiques and have our Etsy site up. We are so excited that we have come this far and can not wait to see what the future holds for us.

Melissa and Kellie were nice enough to agree to do a little giveaway here at All That Blooms, which I’m thrilled about because I really love their designs. The ladies were nice enough to make up a custom card with my specifications (this girl with that hair in this color dress – haha) and sent me a sample to be sure I liked it. Here’s that card before I mailed it off to Kalen for her birthday (which was late because I always seem to get them out too early or too late.)

Win a set of 8 assorted gift tags from Icing Designs! ($10 value)
