Nine weeks

If I were a cat or dog, I’d have my kittens or puppies already. That’s what I think of when I think about being nine weeks pregnant – haha.

I haven’t yet seen a doctor so I don’t have any updates on the pregnancy. I do have an appointment to meet with a cousin’s doctor on Wednesday. If I’m comfortable with him and the nurses, I will officially have a doctor. After the first ultrasound I’ll have medical coverage again.. so I’m looking forward to all of that.

I think it’s interesting when I read about things I should expect/may experience while pregnant. Frequent urination, headaches, weird dreams, sleepiness, low energy, etc. None of these things are new to me, so either I can expect them to get worse during pregnancy or they’ll be like normal and no big deal. (I do expect to have less and less energy though, that one is pretty much a given, isn’t it?)

I didn’t expect my appetite to change though. I’m not talking about cravings. Pre-pregnancy, I was a frequent over-eating and I was always “hungry”. Now, I get full on only a little bit of food. Yesterday, for example, I ate a chili dog (not the kind of chili with beans even) without the bun and one small onion ring (yes, ONE onion ring – lol) and I was stuffed! Normally I’d eat two and then finish off the onion rings. (Please don’t lecture me on how bad a chili dog and onions rings are. We were at the store from 4am until 4pm busy as heck for Black Friday and had to take what we could get.)

I’ve lost a couple pounds because of these tiny meals. Eating so little though, makes me worry that I’m not eating enough that’s beneficial to the baby. Maybe I should consider green smoothies more often.

An hour or two later, I’m starving. You know that feeling you get when you haven’t eaten all day and you feel like you might pass out? It’s like that every time. That’s not a new feeling to me, because I have done that before, but feeling it several times a day is a little tough to deal with. Because of the tiny amount I get full on, I’m able to spread a meal out into two or three. And I’m still having the opposite of cravings. I crave nothing and more often than not, all the food options I have don’t sound good at all. I have no problem eating whatever I choose or am given, but I can’t make a decision because nothing sounds appetizing.

It’s hard to deal with being nauseous, starving, or full to the point of feeling bloated.. ALL day. Of course, it could be worse. At least I’m only feel nauseous between those other two feelings. And I haven’t been sick. Poor Kalen, though, is another story :( If you have any suggestions for easing “morning” sickness, I bet she’d love to hear them!

It’s normal for you to actually lose weight in the first trimester. I felt the same way, and even now I don’t have a big appetite. It’s really funny because instead of cravings, I have aversions. NOTHING sounds good to me and I literally have to force myself to eat. I can’t wait to have my appetite back!

Its normal, I lost a little over 10 pounds on my first 3mon. Just now starting to pick up again… Still not 100% but cant complain! As for poor Kalen, the only thing that helped me with the sickness was time… I couldnt eat anything without… you know **gross** now I either got used to it or its getting better lol!!! But its a wonderfull experience hope both of you are enjoying as much as I am!!!
      Take care!
